Yarramalong Macadamia Nut Farm

Yarramalong Macadamia Nut Farm is recognised as being the southernmost working Macadamia nut grove in Australia and easily accessed from both Sydney and Newcastle.

The farm is situated on 35 acres of picturesque property, much of which has a rainforest appearance. About 15 acres are devoted to the production of nuts and they have around 600 trees. Not a big farm by many standards, but they do all their own processing which is unusual in this industry.

Established in 1972, it took approximately 10 years for the trees to reach an age where they were commercially viable. They are now fully mature and in their peak production time.

Approximately 90% of the produce is sold at the farm door, while the rest is sold mainly to restaurants, health food stores as well as trade shows.

Being close to Sydney, they find many people visit to buy fresh nuts and head straight to the airport for destinations such as Germany, Holland, England and even Alaska where the price of nuts are extremely expensive.

Coach friendly, they are open Wednesday to Sundays all year and some public holidays. They can also organise tours of the local area which is great because there is not a lot of travelling between points of interest.
Morning and afternoon tea along with light lunches. Most of the dishes include nuts and the home baked bread is extremely popular. The menu changes regularly and they can cater to larger groups.

The real specialty is choc-coated macadamias. It is surprising just how many ways a nut can be smothered in chocolate and enjoyed.

"So come along and sample the best nuts in town."

Take home some macadamia products: available at the store
  • Hand and body cream
  • Body oils
  • Chocolate coated natural or dry roasted nuts
